Skills Programme: Facilitate Learning
SAQA Number 117871
Credits: 10
Level 5

5 days contact time – 2 days theoretical concept – 3 days practical application.

Course Aim:
The Facilitator course is based on the unit standard “Facilitate Learning using a Variety of Given Methodologies”. The facilitator plays a vital role in ensuring that learning is successful through the OBE methodology. The programme is practical by nature, and ensures that all candidates can plan, prepare and present appropriate facilitation skills.

The unit standard addresses the following specific outcomes:

  • Plan and prepare for facilitation;
  • Facilitate learning;
  • Evaluate learning and facilitation.

Who should attend:
This skills programme is suitable for individuals who need to develop the skills to facilitate learning using outcomes based methodology, which differs vastly from the traditional teaching and lecturing style.

Candidates prepare a Portfolio of Evidence during class, and demonstrate that they are able to perform the various roles of the Facilitator.
Once the Portfolio is assessed, candidates are registered with the ETDP SETA and receive a Statement of Results from the ETQA once the results have been verified, as well as a framed certificate from Dionysus.
