Skills Programme: Assessor Training
SAQA Number 115753
Duration: Assessor training = 3 days contact time. You have the option of doing an additional 2 days Mentor training – (11 credits at a 50% discounted rate). Candidates who do the mentor training as a separate module at a later date, do so at the full price.
This skills programme prepares individuals to conduct assessments within their fields of expertise. It is based on a generic assessor unit standard (Conduct Outcomes-based Assessments # 115753) and ensures that candidates can assess peoples’ achievement of learning outcomes in terms of specified criteria using pre-designed assessment instruments.
At the end of the course, delegates will be able to:
- Demonstrate understanding of outcomes-based assessment
- Prepare for assessments
- Conduct assessments
- Provide feedback on assessments
- Review assessments
Who should attend:
This generic assessor unit standard is for those individuals who need to assess candidates against unit standards in an OBE system, using pre-designed assessment instruments. Once you have achieved this competency, you re then in the position to submit your Statement of Results from the ETDP SETA, along with your CV showing your areas of expertise and formal qualifications to any SETA of your choice in order to be considered and registered as a constituent assessor for certain learning programmes/unit standards for that SETA.
Programme Assessment for Competence:
Candidates are provided with an easy to complete Portfolio of Evidence (PoE). The PoE is started during class time, and is usually completed by the end of the final (3rd) day. The facilitator assesses this work, provides feedback, and if the candidate is competent, he/she is certificated by Dionysus and results are uploaded to ETDP Seta, who issues an official statement of results for the candidate once external verification of the results has taken place.
See OPEN GROUPS TRAINING for the next date for Assessor training.
