Irene James, our CEO of Dionysus was recently awarded a Professional Designation – Master Skills Development Practitioner by the Professional Body – Association for Skills Development in South Africa (ASDSA). This title was conferred on 12 South Africans in recognition of their expertise and contribution to skills development in South Africa. It is not only the first of its kind in the country, but the first professional designations in this field in the world. The title “Skills Development Master”, which is the highest of 4 designations, is verified and is in the process of being registered by SAQA. The other three titles are Skills Development Technician, Skills Development Practitioner, and Skills Development Chartered. There is an RPL process in place to assess and certify applications of nominated individuals. Once conferred, this prestigious title comes with the personal responsibility of continuous professional development (with the requirement of obtaining 60 CPD points every 2 years), as well as an annual assessment fee. The award was the first of its kind, given to 12 individuals in South Africa who have contributed extensively to furthering skills development over the decades.
